When choosing a puppy it is important to choose the best one. There is a standard of clearance and the A clearance means that the puppy is of a quality acceptable for breeding. A similar certificate system exists for elbow and hemophilia problems. The puppy should be trained and socialized from the earliest age. It is good to expose the dog to various situations, people and other dogs. If there are other animals at your household you should also let your dog get acquainted with them.

Working dogs of this breed should carry the head forward and a little higher than top of the shoulders. The withers and the neck of these dogs are muscular; the chest is deep and capacious. Dogs of this breed are characterized by a well muscled and substantial body and a noble, cleanly chiseled head. The muzzle of these dogs is long, without abrupt stop. The eyes are almond-shaped and dark in color; the ears are pointed, open toward the front and carried erect. Jaws of these dogs should be well developed; a scissors bite is preferable.
