Volunteers screen all perspective adopters carefully to make sure they are ready to provide proper living condition for a dog of this breed. Novice owners and families with small children are not usually allowed to adopt a dog of this breed.

As the breed is extremely popular there are consequently more dogs that are in need of help. Though the breed is very intelligent and easily trainable, many owners do not pay much attention to training and as a result there are many dogs that have a lot of behavioral problems. In volunteer organizations, the dogs are cured for all their illnesses and trained correctly to get rid of behavioral and temperament faults.
