Choosing a breeder you need to make sure that his/her dogs are healthy, correctly bred and have no behavioral problems. Make sure you see the parents' certifications. Meet both sire and dam if possible since personalities of the puppy’s ancestors are very important. Adult males of this breed should range between 24 and 26 inches at the shoulder; females range from 22 to 24 inches. Males within the standard may weigh anywhere from 65 to 90 pounds depending on the bloodline. Females may weigh from 55 to 80 pounds.
