German Shepherd Working Dog
The german shepherd working dog is also a member of the herding dogs group; many kennel owners promote the breed.
Nowadays, this breed is very popular. This fact can be detrimental, because when people start to buy puppies as a matter of fashion or prestige, the health and abilities of the breed are no longer important, because such buyers lack essential knowledge on the breed and its functions. Irresponsible breeders rely on impulsive buyers and don’t try to improve the breed’s health and temperament. It results in many purebred animals suffering from hereditary disorders that could have been avoided by screening the breeding stock.

German Shepherd Working Dog -
dogs, kennel
Actually, the breed was used for herding but the president of the club, that was organized in 1899, Max von Stephanitz understood the importance of expanding the breed’s usefulness in other directions and proposed the government to use the dog in police and military work. These animals were the first to be used as guides for the blind. During the WWII, the breed lost popularity as all things associated with Germany became unpopular or were banned. The breed recovered after the war when the soldiers returned from Europe with these creatures and started to use them for guarding and protection.
